- Are your quotes really free?
- Yes — the survey and the written quote cost you nothing, and there's no obligation to book. We inspect the roof inside and out, photograph anything of concern, and explain your options. If you go elsewhere, that's absolutely fine.
- How much does a new roof cost in Medway?
- Most Medway homes fall between £4,500 and £12,000 for a full replacement, depending on roof size, pitch, complexity and material choice. You'll always get a fixed, itemised written quote before committing to anything.
- How much does a roof repair cost?
- Straightforward repairs — slipped tiles, ridge repointing, small leaks — typically fall between £150 and £600 depending on access, height and materials. The written price doesn't change once work starts.
- How much does gutter cleaning cost?
- Most homes fall between £70 and £150 depending on property height, gutter length and how blocked they are. You'll get a fixed price before we begin.
- Do you charge more for properties further out?
- No. Our pricing is the same across Medway and the surrounding Kent towns, including Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Strood, Rainham, Maidstone, Gravesend, Sittingbourne and Sevenoaks.
- What payment methods do you accept?
- We accept bank transfer and card payment. For larger projects we agree a staged payment schedule in writing before work begins, so you always know what's due and when.
The Work Itself
- Do you need scaffolding?
- For anything beyond a minor repair, yes — and it's included in your quoted price along with waste removal. We never ask you to arrange or pay for scaffolding separately.
- How long does a roof replacement take?
- A typical three-bedroom semi takes 4–6 working days, weather permitting. Larger properties with dormers and complex valleys take longer, and we'll confirm the schedule in your written quote.
- Can you work in winter?
- Yes, we work year-round. Some materials have temperature limits, which we'll flag at survey, and we use temporary weatherproofing where needed so your home stays dry while the permanent repair is done.
- What if it rains during the work?
- We work in sections and leave the roof weathertight at the end of every day. If a spell of bad weather is forecast we'll reschedule rather than leave your property exposed.
- Will you make a mess of my garden?
- No. We lay dust sheets, use debris netting on scaffolding, protect planting under the work area and magnet-sweep for nails before we leave. Your garden is left as we found it.
- Can I stay in the house while the roof is replaced?
- Yes. Roof replacement is done from the outside, so disruption inside is minimal. We'll let you know each day what we're doing and when we'll be finished.
- Do you handle flat roofs as well as pitched?
- Yes — EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and high-performance felt systems. EPDM and GRP both typically last 20–30 years when correctly installed and detailed.
Guarantees & Insurance
- What guarantee do you offer?
- Installation work carries a 10-year written workmanship guarantee, on top of the manufacturer's warranty on materials. Both are handed to you in writing at completion.
- Are you insured?
- Yes. We carry £5m public liability insurance. We're happy to provide a copy of our certificate on request — many customers want it before work starts.
- What happens if something goes wrong after you've finished?
- Call us. If it falls within the workmanship guarantee we'll come back and put it right at no cost. Our reputation in Medway depends on it.
- Can you provide reports for an insurance claim?
- Yes. For storm or accidental damage we provide photographic evidence and a written summary you can submit with a household insurance claim.
Maintenance & Advice
- How often should gutters be cleaned?
- Twice a year suits most Kent homes — late spring and late autumn. If you're surrounded by mature trees or have heavy moss on the roof, three visits a year will save you bigger problems.
- How do I know if my roof needs replacing or just repairing?
- The signs to watch for are widespread damp patches, daylight visible through the loft, multiple failed repairs, or a roof over 50 years old with crumbling mortar. Book a free survey and we'll give you a straight answer either way.
- Why does my roof leak only in certain weather?
- Wind-driven rain finds its way through gaps that stay dry in calm conditions — often at flashings, ridge lines or under lifted tiles. That's why we inspect in the loft as well as on the roof, since the water rarely drops where you'd expect.
- Does moss on my roof cause damage?
- Yes, indirectly. Moss holds moisture against the covering, lifts tiles at the edges as it grows, and the debris it sheds blocks your gutters. Removing it and fitting leaf guards solves both problems.
