How We Handle Rendering
Rendering does two jobs at once: it protects the wall from driving rain and it changes how the house looks. Get it wrong and you get the problem that gives render a bad name — cracked panels and water finding its way behind the surface, where it can't dry out. That's almost always preparation and materials, not the render itself.
We match the system to the building. Traditional sand and cement suits older solid-wall properties where the wall needs to breathe, and we'll tell you honestly when that's the right choice even though it's slower. Silicone and acrylic renders are breathable, flexible and self-cleaning, which makes them a better fit for modern blockwork and for elevations that catch the weather. Where existing render has blown, we hack it back to sound substrate rather than skimming over a failing base.
We're equally happy repairing a small area, rendering an extension so it matches, or re-rendering a whole property.

Rendering — Common Questions
- How much does rendering cost?
- Cost depends on the size of the elevation, which system suits the wall and how much preparation is needed. Give us a call on 07488 962 796 or send us a photo and we'll come out to survey and give you a fixed written price.
- How long does render last?
- A properly prepared and applied render should give you decades of service. The failures you see on older properties usually trace back to inadequate preparation or the wrong system for that wall construction, which is why we survey first.
- Can you render over existing render?
- Sometimes, but only where the existing render is genuinely sound and firmly bonded. If it's blown or crumbling, rendering over it just moves the problem — the new surface will fail with the old one. We'll tell you at the survey which applies to your wall.
